MIS Club Update
Second MIS Meeting With Cerner
On Monday, September 11th, a member from Cerner will be coming to speak to the MIS students. Hopefully the attendance will be just as large as the first meeting was when KOCH Ind. came to talk. We are excited to hear what exactly Cerner does and how they impact our economy.

Dave Lingerfelt is a 2003 graduate of KSU with a BS in MIS. While at KSU, Dave was actively involved in the MIS Club and served on the board as the Tutoring/Education chair. His biggest accomplishment was starting a fee for service tutoring program where students enrolled in Mangt 686 received extra assistance, as well as helping the college of business make the migration from Visual Basic 6.0 to Visual Basic .NET. Shortly after graduating, Dave did independent consulting for a small medical billing firm where he automated their billing system into a RDBMS interfaced via a Visual Basic GUI. He then went to work for the Cerner Corporation as a Technical Solution Analsyt where he worked front-line with the client troubleshooting and debugging Cerner`s applications. He worked extensively with the medication interaction severs that help prevent deadly drug interactions. After 2 years at Cerner he took a move into the training organization known as Knowledge Works. He now over sees the training efforts for all assoicates working within the support organization and intecutal property organization. He has also assisted with the development and delivery of the capstone consulting classes that are pushed out to surrounding colleges to get the opportunity to experience Cerner first hand.

His presentation will cover an overview of Cerner and what they do, a
little bit about their client base and then will move into move of a info session on what college students can do to better prepare themselves for the job market.
